Non-Encoder to Encoder Solution for Reading Sewer Meters

Here is a link to a January, 2021 article in WaterWorld magazine entitled, “Peeking Inside a Private Wastewater System”.

In this article, Raymond Hoppenworth, Smart Grid Systems Manager for the City of Lakeland FL Water Utility, describes how the City of Lakeland is using the Smart Meter-Master to provide a more accurate picture of their customer’s wastewater use by interfacing the customer’s wastewater meter with the City’s Advanced Metering Infrastructure. The Smart Meter-Master converts the sewer meter’s 4-20mA output into a totalized value and continuously updates and outputs this totalized value as a Sensus encoder reading to the City’s AMI network.
